  24.                 Shareware and Registration Information

  26.    * What is Shareware?

  28.     XFile is offered to the user as "shareware".  Essentially, this
  29.     a "try before you buy" concept for software.  The user may try
  30.     the program for a reasonable period and gauge its suitability 
  31.         and usefullness.  If the user finds the program to be of value,
  32.     he or she is expected to pay the shareware "registration" fee.
  33.         
  34.     Since XFile is shareware, the user is encouraged to distribute
  35.     the program for others to try.  However, please note that XFile
  36.     is copyrighted and, as such, may not be altered or modified in
  37.     any way.

  39.    * Registration Benefits:

  41.     Users gain a number of benefits by registering XFile.  Some of
  42.     these benefits include:

  44.          *  A registration number to disable all shareware notices
  45.             within the XFile program.

  47.              *  One free upgrade to the next version of XFile (if any).

  49.          *  Upgrade notices and any news releases concerning XFile.

  51.          *  Direct user input to the author for improvements or new 
  52.             features which users feel may enhance XFile.

  54.          *  Technical support:  Users may direct any and all ques-

  56.             the end of this document.  Registered XFile users will
  57.         receive, minimally, a 3 month period of unlimited techni-
  58.                 cal support.

  60.     By registering, the user both promotes the idea of shareware and
  61.     allows the author to maintain and upgrade the program.
